What is worse than the rhetorical "hi how are you?"
But sometimes you have to take at face value the fact that you were acknowledged at all.

So, How are you Lorena? Sounds like things have been getting you a bit down lately.

Majorly so! I think it's the asking of "How are you?" as a form of social convention, not genuine care, that irks me all the more. I know we've all done it at least a time or two, but I'm the sort of person who tries to only say it if I have the time to listen and care about what the other party replies with, so I try not to use it just for the sake of something to break the conversational ice with.

Cool top! That Peter Pan collar is a great touch!
